The Impact of Culture - Creative Businesses for Sustainable Cities

Umeå is Europe’s Capital of Culture. As part of the Umeå2014 programme we invite you to an international conference focusing on how culture-driven growth contributes to sustainable urban development. Welcome to Umeå on 23–24 September 2014!

Make new contacts, acquire knowledge, interact and be inspired! These two days will offer a variety of seminars on the interface
between culture-driven growth and sustainable urban development.  All dimensions of sustainable development will be touched on by examples from both Umeå and other parts of the world.

For who?

The conference addresses promoters of entrepreneurship and enterprise development within the cultural and creative industries. In addition, government ministries, government agencies, county administrative boards, regions, municipalities, scholars and industry associations and others involved in local and regional development, including urban planning.

Sliperiet, Umeå Arts Campus (Konstnärligt campus), Umeå University.

Fee:

The conference fee is SEK 2 000 (including VAT). Besides the conference itself, this also includes coffee/tea, lunch and buffet dinner on Day 1, and coffee and lunch on Day 2. The conference fee also includes a visit to an art installation in the urban
environment entitled “Lev!”, a guided tour of Guitars – The Museum, and the guided bus tour The Gendered Landscape of Umeå.

Final date for registration is 1 September 2014. Places are limited to 300. Cancellations without cost can be made up until 25 July. Please note that if you cancel after 25 July, or do not attend the conference once you have registered without a valid reason, you will be charged SEK 1 000 as a cancellation/no show fee.
