Media Conference 2012: Screen after Screen
Tallinn University Baltic Media and Film School (BFM) and Estonian National Public Broadcasting (ERR) are organizing international media conference “Screen after Screen” (Television after Television) at Kumu Kunstimuusuem (Weizenbergi 34/Valge 1, Tallinn). Media specialists from Estonia and abroad will speak about the essence of contemporary media and its possibilities today when multiple screens are continuously used watching a channel.
The morning starts with international speakers - Dr. Amanda Lotz addresses the continuing industrial changes experienced by the US television industry in the past five years. Mr. Lauri Kivinen, Managing Director of Finnish Public Broadcaster Yleisradio speaks about players being between consolidation and fragmentation and national versus global competitors. Mr. Mark Jacobs , BBC Academy film director and producer introduces the development of BBC in changing environment. Annika Nyberg, Media Director in European Broadcasting Union Frankenhauser continues on the theme.
Afternoon session is opened by the Head of Media Research, Estonian Public Broadcasting Andres Jõesaar with the discussion about Big challenges for small nation states screens. TLU Estonian Institute of Humanities, research fellow Indrek Ibrus continues with the issue of AV-industry's SMEs and crossmedia production and Dr. Renira Gambarato, associate professor at TLU Baltic Film and Media School speaks about transmedia storytelling initiatives in Brazil. The session ends with the presentation of Külliki Tafel-Viia and Silja Lassur, researchers at Tallinn University Estonian Institute for Futures Studies about the future perspectives of Estonian film industry.
