Thórunn Arnadóttir receives the first Summit Travel Grant
Thórunn Arnadóttir receives the first Summit Travel Grant, a travel grant by Summit podcast that allows young Nordic designers to explore and exhibit at Stockholm Design Week 2015.
The Summit Travel Grant is based on an auction held during DesignMarch 2014, for which five leading Swedish architects and designers donated original sketches and art pieces. The grant enables Thórunn to exhibit at National Museum Design at Kulturhuset alongside the second Summit grant recipient, Finnish Katriina Nuutinen.
Thórunn Árnadóttir (b.1982) is one of Iceland’s most promising young designers. After graduating from Royal College of Art in London in 2011 Árnadóttir has set up her multidisciplinary studio in Reykjavík where she works with different materials and techniques, all driven by curiosity and interest in different cultures and materials. She has exhibited at institutions such as the V&A in London, the Triennale Design Museum in Milan and Spark Design Space in Reykjavík.
The Summit Travel Grant and the exhibition was made possible thanks to generous contributions from Claesson Koivisto Rune, Front, Monica Förster, Ingela Håkansson Lamm and Thomas Sandell.
Summit is Sweden’s leading architecture and design podcast. It is also a publishing house for books on architecture and design. Launched in January 2013, Summit is the brainchild of Daniel Golling and Gustaf Kjellin.
